The ActivePix concept has already proved so popular that we have started to assemble a team of top-drawer photographers. The first camera-person to partner with ActivePix is fellow Balsall Commoner Stewart Beck.
Stewart introduces himself:
"My beautiful daughter is pretty much the reason I took up photography.
Until she was born, I was content with using a good-ish compact camera (set to automatic) to snap whatever interested me.
My daughter has opened my eyes in a multitude of ways, not least because I was not fully satisfied with the quality of images I was taking of her.
So, less than a year later, I treated myself to a full frame Nikon D600 and some relatively expensive lenses and went on courses to learn how to do it properly.
My life has completely changed, and I owe it all to her. Everybody should take the time to allow themselves to be inspired by children as often as possible.
Now, a few years on, I make sure I am there to capture her achievements as I watch her grow. I make sure that my favourite shots are printed regularly in small collections, usually in book form, and will regularly look back over them with a real sense of family pride.
My sports and other interests are fairly wide-ranging. Until a knee injury forced an early retirement I enjoyed playing hockey and I love to play golf when time allows. I'm a keen swimmer and use that to try to keep fit. I like to go walking with my family and we get out into the UK countryside whenever we can. In my youth I was involved with the lighting and stage management of drama and musical productions for a school based youth theatre. As a sports spectator I enjoy watching motorsport, F1 in particular, as well as football, rugby, hockey and tennis. I enjoy travelling and visiting new places and meeting new people. I have worked and lived in Germany and Switzerland as well as the USA but home is in the UK."
It's fantastic to have you as part of the ActivePix team Stewart!
